She has written about the presidents, a ghost story, a book of poems, an e-book for children, and more. The newest book, I Have a Friend on Jupiter, was published by of Maryland.

“I have been writing all my life and started sending things out back in 1977,” said Mariotti.

She is a lifelong resident of Shelton, and graduated from Shelton High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in English from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. She has a home business, CRM Enterprises.

“Since a child, I always loved to write, and when I was a senior in high school I began sending my work to publishers,” said Mariotti.

She has even sent some of her work to musicians like Tom Jones.

He “read one of my poems out loud to an audience once in Atlantic City and another time in Las Vegas,” she said. “Tom Jones loves poetry, and coming from the country of Wales, he appreciates the art of poetry as well as the art of song.”

Mariotti’s first poem appeared in Night Roses in 1991, and her second in Green’s Magazine of Canada in 1991. Since then, her work has been in literary magazines around the country, as well as in India, Australia and Scotland.

“Poetry is a part of my life. Sometimes I just get an idea and I sit down either at the computer or I sit at the table and write in my nothing book and the words just start to flow,” she said. “I think poetry makes people think. It makes them feel and it makes them connected to the world.

“It is always a thrill to see my name in print. I always get excited with each new accomplishment in my writing career. And yes, more books are planned for the future,” she said.
