‘Meet Santa Day’ planned at Shelton’s Huntington Branch Library

Hundreds of Shelton children come to the Huntington Branch Library each year to meet Santa, and then something special happens.

Instead of “asking” Santa for a gift, they “give” a present to Santa.

Santa then shares with them how, thanks to their kindness, thousands of young children in the Valley will have gifts to open during the holiday season.

This year, TEAM’s Toys 4 Kids “Meet Santa Day” is set for Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Huntington Branch.

There will be hot chocolate, cookies, a sing-along and story time, plus every child will receive a free photo with Santa.

In addition to TEAM Inc., the event is co-sponsored by Valley Toys for Kids, Echo Hose Ambulance, and Shelton Volunteer Fire Companies No. 3 and 4 (Huntington and Pine Rock Park).

Bring new toy or book, or make donation

Children and their families are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or book to the event, or make a donation.

“Join your neighbors in bringing the true meaning of the Christmas season to those less fortunate,” said event organizers. “During these tough economic times, acts of kindness like this are even more important.”

In the coming weeks, both the Huntington Branch and Plumb Memorial Library are drop-off points for new, unwrapped toys for the TEAM Toys 4 Kids drive.
