Monster Jam trucks put on local show this weekend
Monster Jam trucks will be coming to Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena this weekend. Four shows will take place from Friday to Sunday, March 7 to 9.
The line-up of Monster Jam trucks will include Grave Digger, driven by Carl Von Horn; Madusa, in the first appearance in Bridgeport; Higher Education, driven by Jim Tracy; Iron Warrior, driven by Trey Meyers; Shockwave, driven by Bill Braukman, and Connecticut's own Pat Summa driving Thrasher.
The trucks are subject to change without notice, according to publicity material.
Can go up to 35 feet in the air
About 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide, Monster Jam trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, Monster Jam trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.
Monster Jam trucks can fly up to 130 feet in distance (a distance greater than 14 cars, side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air, according to publicity material.
The Bridgeport schedule is as follows:
Friday, March 7 — 7:30 p.m. (doors at 6:30 p.m.)
Saturday, March 8 — 2 p.m. (Pit Party at 11 a.m., regular doors at 1 p.m.)
Saturday, March 8 — 7:30 p.m. (doors at 6:30 p.m.)
Sunday, March 9 — 2 p.m. (Pit Party at 11 a.m., regular doors at 1 p.m.)
Monster Jam tickets start at $12 for children ages 2 to 12, and $25 for adults. All tickets are $5 more on the day of a show. Buy tickets at Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets, the Webster Bank Arena box office, or 800-745-3000.
Pit Party events are 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday; admission is $10. Fans can view the trucks up close and meet the drivers. Pit Party passes are $10, and people must also have an event ticket to the Saturday or Sunday 2 p.m. show.
