Non-Profit Organization Employee Retires After 15 years
STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way, a Norwalk-based organization that has served individuals of all ages who have intellectual disabilities since 1952 has announced the retirement of Brian Sullivan, a favored 15-year employee in their finance department.
Katie Banzhaf, Executive Director of STAR said, “Brian has been an asset to STAR ever since he began working with us. He is a consummate professional and wonderful person. We are going to miss him.”
Getting to know Sullivan
Mr. Sullivan, a resident of Shelton, has served in several capacities at STAR, including bookkeeper and business manager. He initially applied to STAR, he said, because he wanted to have more of an impact on people’s lives. “That was when I decided to make a switch from for-profit to not-for-profit.”
Sullivan continues, “I’ve enjoyed STAR tremendously. I’ve never worked at a place where the people were so friendly. I like both the clients and my co-workers—I am very connected to the clients, in fact. It is just a very happy place to come to work.
