Find the Gingerbread Man — each week in December the Gingerbread Man will be hiding in a new place in Plumb’s Children’s Department, kids are encouraged to locate him and then enter a prize drawing, one entry per week per child.
Tweens Rule — Wednesday, Dec. 3, 6 p.m. New program for kids in grades 5-8 with crafts, cooking and book discussions.
Advance College Funding — Wednesday, Dec. 3, 6:30 p.m. Linda Fiore shares tips and pointers with families of high school students. To register, call Linda at 203-261-2948.
AlphaBits — Thursdays, Dec. 4 and 11, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready. Drop in.
Stay & Play plus Family Place — Friday, Dec. 5, 10:30 a.m. Pam Lorenzo of Nurturing Family Networks discusses ages and stages baby screening now available in the Valley. Adults chat while children play in a safe secure environment; light refreshments provided. Suitable for babies and young children, drop in.
Teen Volunteer Orientation — Saturday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m. Teens who need community service hours may stop in anytime to complete an application and attend this orientation; no registration required. Parents should expect to attend this workshop with teens. Volunteers must be 12-19 years old, and may not be completing these hours for court or disciplinary board assignments.
Budding Bookworms — Mondays, Dec. 8 and 15, 10:30 a.m. A themed drop in story and craft time for kids 1-5 years old and their caregivers.
SW CAPA — Monday, Dec. 8, 6:30 p.m. Monthly meeting of regional authors and publishers association.
Fun for Little Ones — Tuesdays, Dec 9 and 16, 10 a.m. Mrs. Fritsch offers stories, songs and movement for toddlers and pre-schoolers up to age 5 in this themed drop in program; siblings welcome.
Book Buzz — Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2 p.m. Drop-in with Miss Maura for weekly book and book based craft plus a healthy snack. This program for preschool children and their caregivers welcomes audience participation.
knit! — Tuesdays, Dec. 9 and 16, 6 p.m. Adult fiber fans meet to knit, crochet and chat, lots of support and fellowship in this drop in group, stop in and bring a friend.
Kids in the Kitchen — Wednesday, Dec. 10, 5:30 p.m. Kids 5 and older practice simple cooking skills but adult help is needed so parents expect to stay. Dress for mess, be aware of allergies. Register early.
Library Home School Network — Friday, Dec. 12, 2 p.m. Homeschooling or thinking of homeschool¬ing your child(ren)? Meet other families at this open-session, children are welcome and light refreshments are served.
Minecraft Club — Saturday, Dec. 13, 2 p.m. Kids 4-12 share ideas and tips in this free monthly program which offers a craft, game and educational element, but no online gaming; register, space limited.
Toys for Kids Drop Off — Both Shelton libraries have boxes for unwrapped toy donations for TEAM’s holiday distribution through December.
Home Delivery — Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials.
