Presents 4 Pets campaign seeks items to help local shelters
Mandy Oram of Paws and Kisses Pet Sitting Service in Shelton is organizing the 2014 Presents 4 Pets campaign in southern Connecticut to benefit homeless animals in the community.
The event is held in support of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week from Nov. 2 to 8. Professional pet-sitters across the country sponsor local campaigns in coordination with the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters.
Presents 4 Pets provides pet-care items to help keep animal shelters operational, and animals comfortable and safe. The local campaign runs from Oct. 1 until the first week of November.
Needed are items such as pet food, treats, toys, blankets, towels, rugs, beds, leashes, collars and cat litter.
Promoting shelters, rescue organizations
“Through this program, we seek to generate awareness of community animal shelters and rescue organizations and the important role they serve,” Oram said. “Last year, we collected over $ 2,500 worth of items, all of which were donated to local shelters.”
Donation boxes are located at the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce office, 10 Progress Drive, Shelton; and H3 Pet Supply, 475 Hawley Lane, Stratford. People can drop off items during business hours.
Local businesses, condo associations, veterinarian offices and others are invited to host a donation box. Call 203-922-2643, email firstname.lastname@example.org or go to www.p4pct.org.
