Relay for Life in Shelton set for June 13
The local Relay for Life will take place Saturday, June 13 at the Riverwalk in Shelton.
The Relay for Life of the Naugatuck Valley is one of nearly 50 such events scheduled in Connecticut this year to benefit the American Cancer Society.
“The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the state and across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all,” said Patrice Lestrange of the American Cancer Society.
Teams and individuals involved
During a Relay For Life, teams and individuals “camp out” at a location and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times, raising funds to support the American Cancer Society in the process.
Four million people participated in more than 6,000 events worldwide last year.
Participants and volunteers are needed for the Shelton event, and organizational meetings will be held soon.
