Resident earns Eagle Scout rank
Michael Leone was recognized by the Housatonic Council for achieving Eagle Scout rank. The requirements for earning Eagle Scout rank are rigorous and require many years of effort and leadership. Nationally, fewer than 4 percent of all Scouts achieve Scouting's highest honor.
Michael Leone, 16, is the son of Anthony and Laura Leone and brother to Anna Leone. Michael attended Sunnyside Elementary, Perry Hill, Shelton Intermediate, and is currently a Senior at Shelton High School. Michael earned the Presidents Award 2 years in a row, Student of the Month, and Student of the Year during elementary and middle school.
He is currently a member of the National Honor Society, Italian Honor Society, Student Council, Italian Club, and Secretary for the Junior Statesmen of America. He just attended the American Legion sponsored Boys State Leadership Program at Eastern Connecticut State University.
Michael joined pack 20 at age 5 and was a Boy Scout with Troop 27 in White Hills. Michael served as patrol leader and leave behind no trace trainer. His Eagle Scout project was a new school sign and planter beds for Sunnyside Elementary School, for which he attended from kindergarten to 5th grade.
