SATURDAY: Children can meet Santa at Huntington Branch Library

Young children and their families can meet Santa and rekindle the "spirit of Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Huntington Branch Library, 41 Church St.

The annual Meet Santa Day event is part of TEAM Inc.’s Toys 4 Kids program.

If possible, each child or family is encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy, book or donation to the event that will be given to Santa.

Santa will thank and share with each child how, thanks to their kindness, other children will have gifts to open this holiday season.

In return, the visiting youngster will receive his or her own photo with Santa free of charge.

Hot cocoa, cookies and games

Hot chocolate, cookies and games will be available for all visitors during Meet Santa Day. There also will be a story time when Marcia Austin, director of Huntington Branch Library, will read Christmas stories to the children.

All toys and other donations will be distributed through TEAM Toys 4 Kids to bring smiles to countless young girls and boys in Shelton and elsewhere in the lower Valley.

Supporting organizations are Echo Hose Ambulance, Shelton Volunteer Fire Companies 3 and 4, and the Huntington Branch Library.
