The Shelton High School boys soccer team will collect gently-used clothing and other items during two events this week.

The collections will take place at Cube Smart, 829 Bridgeport Ave., on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 5:30-7 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 12 from 4-5:30 p.m.

In addition to clothes, people also are welcome to bring used linens, shoes, pocketbooks, stuffed animals, toys and games.

The event raises money for the team through an organization that works with schools groups and either recycles items, sells them to thrift stores, or gives them to people in poor countries.

For more information on the collection drive, call Karen Forlenzo at 203-906-7167.

The SHS soccer team will play its first home games of the season next week — on Monday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. against Guilford High, and on Wednesday, Sept. 17 against Cheshire High.
