Sample wine, beer and food at Beardsley Zoo event

Animal lovers, wine aficionados and food connoisseurs from near and far will gather under the stars for the annual Wild Wine, Beer and Food Safari benefiting Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo from 6- 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 7.

The evening at the zoo will include live entertainment by the Navels and a silent auction.

“What could be better than enjoying the zoo on a beautiful early summer night while sampling the best wine, beer and food the region has to offer?” said Gregg Dancho, zoo director.

Shelton businesses are involved

Among the participating food vendors will be Addeo’s Italian Ice, David Grant Catering, Liquid Lunch, and Smoke & Bones, all operations with Shelton connections.

Tickets are $55 each for groups of four or more, $60 for individual tickets, and may be purchased online at Tickets also may be purchased at the door for $65 per person, if available.

Aquarion announces Environmental Champions

At the event, Aquarion Water Co. will announce the winners of its annual Connecticut Environmental Champions contest during a special ceremony. Awards will be presented to the winners, whose volunteer projects have protected and improved the state’s natural resources — its water, air, soils, and plant and wildlife communities.

To volunteer, be a food or wine vendor, sponsor this event, purchase tickets, or donate an auction item, contact Emily Bobowick at 203-394-6569.
