Saturday: Car wash honors memory of '06 Shelton High grad
A car wash will take place in memory of Briana Gilligan Nostrant on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Echo Hose Ambulance headquarters, 100 Meadow St., Shelton.
A Shelton native and 2006 Shelton High School graduate, Gilligan Nostrant passed away on April 30, 2013 after a three-year battle against acute lymphocytic leukemia. Donations from the car wash will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her name.
On Oct. 5, Gilligan Nostrant also will be remembered as part of the Light the Night event at 5 p.m. at Lighthouse Point in New Haven. This is a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society walk to honor and remember blood cancer victims. Her name will be announced at the walk and a vigil for the survivors and victims will take place.
Gilligan Nostrant — who was known as “Bri” to those close to her — was survived by her parents, three siblings, and her new husband David Nostrant. She and Dave Nostrant were married on April 28, 2013, in the presence of her immediate family and many viewers via Skype.
“Their wedding was the definition of true love and dedication,” friends said.
Could make people laugh
Katie Thompson, her best friend, described Gilligan Nostrant as creative and witty. “You always knew you were in for a laugh when you were with her,” Thompson said.
