Sunday afternoon, Shelton scouts, members of the Sutter-Terlizzi Post 16 American Legion and members of the community came together to retire U.S. Flags.
When the U.S. flag becomes worn, torn, faded or badly soiled, it is time to replace it with a new flag and retire the old one. The traditional method of retirement is to incinerate the flag. After a brief service and a reading from "I am the Flag" (below), the flags were placed in a stone fireplace and burnt.
