Valley Shakespeare Festival will hold auditions for its summer production of Much Ado About Nothing on Saturday, March 29, from 10 to 2 p.m. at Shelton Community Center, 41 Church Street.

Rehearsals begin on Monday, June 23rd and will continue through the last performance.

There were three performances of the play, and will be presented in Shelton’s Veterans’ Memorial Park at 8 p.m. July 10-12.

All skill levels invited to try out

Anyone interested in auditioning for a role in the production should come prepared to read and bring along their portfolio, including head shot and résumé, if available. All levels of performers are welcome; no prior stage experience is required.

Specifically, organizers are looking for performers who have experience with First Folio text and are adept at comedy. They are also looking for actors who can play instruments.

For the audition, prepare two one- to two- minute contrasting monologues, and be prepared to sing 16 bars unaccompanied and cold-read from a script.

Valley Shakespeare Festival is a non-profit, fiscally sponsored organization dedicated to bringing free theater to the communities of the lower Naugatuck Valley.
