Shelton residents and business owners are being advised to clear the storm drains in front of their property, if possible.
The forecast for warmer weather and rain over the next few days could lead to minor street flooding and the flooding of basements and other property.
“There is nowhere for this water to go due to the frozen ground and blocked drains,” said Michael A. Maglione, Shelton’s director of public safety and emergency management services. “Residents may find water moving into areas that are normally dry.”
People also can help the city’s volunteer fire departments by clearing snow away from fire hydrants near roads to provide easy access for firefighters, in case of an emergency.
