Torch runs are held throughout the state in anticipation of the Special Olympics Connecticut’s Summer Games, taking place this year from June 5 to 7 at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

The local torch run entered from Trumbull and then went through Huntington Center and downtown Shelton before traveling into Derby. Runners were aided by a police escort.

Many Shelton Police Department members and Mayor Mark Lauretti ran in the event, and they were joined by a contingent of Shelton High students and other participants.
