Spartan Race history
More than 5,000 children and their parents made Spartan Race history as they participated in the first-ever stand-alone Spartan Kids race in Stamford, at Mill River Park this past weekend. Sporting Spartan headbands, children climbed, jumped, splashed and got muddy at this unprecedented turnout. There were ear-to-ear smiles as the littlest Spartan finishers received their orange medallions and were cheered by visiting superheroes. Organizers were delighted with the enthusiastic response by families as parents expressed their eagerness to participate in future events.
The Spartan Kids stand-alone race held 2k and 4k heats with 15+ obstacles. Kids ages 5-12 participated in obstacles crafted to instill child-like adventure, courage, camaraderie, and a sense of accomplishment. There was also a heat for the “Special Spartans,” athletes with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and those with cognitive learning or vocational delays. All finishers received a free Spartan T-shirt and finisher’s medal.
