Special times for kids to learn starts Sept. 12

Webb Mountain Discovery Zone is holding special events this fall.

Discovering Autumn

Eight-week enrichment program for 3 through 6 year-olds, Sept. 12, 14, 16 or 17. Each week includes a story related to the day’s topic, exploring the Discovery Zone trails through the eyes of the preschoolers, and creating a craft together.

Interacting in a natural setting offers young children — with their caregivers — opportunities for mental, physical and emotional growth.

After School Adventures

Seven-week program geared toward students in kindergarten through first grade on Wednesdays and second through fifth graders on Thursdays, starting Sept. 9 and 10,4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

This program utilizes the ecosystem of the Discovery Zone to let kids expend energy while gaining all the health and educational benefits of interacting in nature. Lessons will include the use of digital cameras, binoculars, microscopes, along with personal journals, while searching vernal pools for frogs and salamanders, birds and insects for action-packed classes.

The Enchanted Forest

Children and their parents will be accompanied by fairies and elves from the Discovery Zone Forest and meet several inhabitants from the past and present stationed along the trails to tell about their lives in the forest on Sunday, Oct. 11.
