The Lautenschlagers live in Shelton and are St. Joseph Church members. They are partaking in a steak-and-cheese grinder, liver-bacon-and-onion sandwich, chicken nuggets, and onion rings.

The festival continues nightly through Saturday, May 24 on the parish grounds, 430 Coram Ave.

The event features rides, games, food and a raffle. Hours for the remaining nights are Thursday from 6-10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 6-11 p.m.

Lots of favorites on the menu

Carnival-goers can eat everything from eggplant subs to hamburgers, and porketta sandwiches to grilled kielbasa-and-sauerkraut.

Some of the other items on the menu are Italian chicken sandwiches, sausage-and-peppers, barbecue sandwiches, liver-and-bacon, steak sandwiches, meatball subs, pierogies, and chicken nuggets.

Also, hot dogs, chili dogs, mozzarella sticks, empanadas, onion rings, fries, chili fries, wings, clam chowder and chili.

Proceeds benefit St. Joseph Catholic School, which offers classes for pre-kindergarten to eighth grade students.
