Stargazing at the Bethany Observing Station

The Astronomical Society of New Haven will open the Bethany Observing Station to the public Friday, Jan. 16, starting at 7 p.m. at 111 Hilldale Road in Bethany.

Admission and parking are free. All members of the family are welcome to look through the telescopes to have a closer look at the stars and the planets.

A clear winter sky is the best for observing. This month, telescopes will be pointed at the Andromeda Galaxy, the Pleiades star cluster, the Orion Nebula the many other stars and star clusters in the Milky Way.

Members will also point out the constellations and satellite passes. Dress for cold weather. Directions and cancellation due to weather (including clouds) will be posted at or found by calling 866-808-ASNH.
