Symphony to perform Christmas show in Shelton

The New Haven Symphony Orchestra Pops will perform a holiday concert for the public on Sunday, Dec. 15 at Shelton Intermediate School.

The 3 p.m. show in Shelton already is sold out, but similar performances with tickets still available will take place Dec. 13 in Fairfield and Dec. 14 in New Haven.

The concert, “A Mensch’s Christmas,” will offer festive Christmas music by Jewish composers. It will highlight songs such as "White Christmas," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Let It Snow" and "Silver Bells" as well as pieces from "The Nutcracker."

The concert will feature Tony-Award winning Judy Kaye on vocals, Joshua Jeremiah on baritone, and Michael Barrett as conductor. Kaye has won Tony Awards for her roles in "Nice Work if You Can Get It," "Mamma Mia" and "Souvenir."

The other concert times are Friday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts; and Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Hamden Middle School.
