THIS WEEKEND--Shelton Farmers’ Market opens for the season

The Shelton Farmers’ Market Association invites the community to shop local at the farmers’ market on Saturdays from 9AM - 1PM at the Shelton Farmers’ Market building, located at 100 Canal Street in Shelton. This market will offer the community an opportunity to share in the abundance of local agricultural products while talking to the farmers who grow your food.

This Saturday, May 14, Bar 140 will be offering fresh made breakfast sandwiches and their famous “Shelton grown” burgers while Three Bridges Coffeehouse will offer hot and cold drinks for market shoppers.  Live music will be provided by the Farmers’ Market Band. Additional vendors at the market May 14 will be East Village Farm (eggs, wool products, and soaps), Stone Gardens Farm (vegetables, beef, pork, and chicken), Beltane Farm (goat’s milk cheeses) Blue Slope Farm (fresh ricotta and farmers’ cheese, cornmeal, veal and goat meat), Laurel Glen Farm (vegetables),  Oronoque Bakery (fresh baked pies and chocolate chip cookies) and Little Dog Laughed (homemade treats for dogs and cats).

The market will be open weekly on Saturdays from 9AM -1PM until Thanksgiving, and then starting in June the market will open weekly Wednesday afternoons from 3PM- 6:30PM until Halloween. This market is classified as a “producer-only” market, meaning that vendors for the market are the producers of the products they are selling.

In addition to accepting cash and credit cards, the market also accepts SNAP and WIC benefits. Community members are encouraged to join the Shelton CT Farmers’ Market Association for an annual membership fee of $25 to show support for the producer-only market. Interested individuals can sign up at the market, on their website, email, or contact one of the forms of social media listed below.
