TODAY 3-7 PM: Nonprofit resource clinic on mortgage problems is Thursday
A free resource clinic for residents who are struggling to pay their mortgages or are facing foreclosure will take place Thursday, March 12 from 3-7 p.m. at the Ansonia High School cafeteria, 20 Pulaski Highway, Ansonia.
The event will introduce participants to the numerous programs available to them. Attendees can have specific questions addressed by meeting one-on-one with representatives from nonprofit organizations that can provide relevant information and guidance to work with their lenders.
Participating organization include the Connecticut Fair Housing Center, TEAM Inc., Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust, Neighborhood Housing of New Haven, Neighborhood Housing of Waterbury, state judicial mediator, and Career Resources Inc.
Focus is financial stability
The program is designed to help homeowners who are behind on their mortgage payments become current by increasing their earnings and attaining financial stability.
Connecticut has the eighth highest rate of foreclosure filings in the nation, according to the latest monthly report from California-based RealtyTrac.
