TODAY: Housatonic Council to honor Eagle Scouts at annual dinner

Approximately 25 young men who earned the Eagle Scout award in 2014 will be honored by the Housatonic Council, BSA, at its annual Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner on Sunday, Jan. 4.

The Eagle Scout award is the highest rank in Scouting and is achieved by 4% of all Scouts. Many business and political leaders attribute their professional success to values they acquired in Scouting.

Also highlighting the event will be the presentation of the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award to Larry Janesky, owner of Basement Systems of Connecticut and other companies.

Janesky, a Bridgeport native, earned the Eagle Scout award in 1980 and attributes the skills he learning in Scouting as a foundation to his business and personal success.

The National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award will be presented to Janesky by former state Rep. Christopher Caruso, who is also an Eagle Scout from Bridgeport.

Event to be held at Derby venue

The dinner will be held at the LaSala Banquet Hall, 73 High Street, Derby. The reception will begin at 4 p.m. with program and dinner to follow.

Tickets are available from the Housatonic Council, 111 New Haven Ave., Derby, or at 203-734-3329.

The Housatonic Council serves Shelton as well as Ansonia, Derby, Oxford and Seymour.
