Trinity Lutheran Church in Shelton, for the third year, participated in the Christmas-at-Sea initiative on Nov. 4.

When seafarers come into ports in Connecticut, they are usually greeted by Chaplain Ruth Setaro, who gives the captain the satchels to be distributed to the crew that they open on Christmas. These satchels contain a sweatshirt, socks, a t-shirt, a cap knitted by members of the congregation, a can of nuts and a Christmas card.

The seafarers are grateful to receive such gifts while serving out in the rough seas of the world during the Christmas season. Trinity was able to fill 18 satchels this year with the help of congregation members.
