Troop 28 cleans up Shelton open space

Boy Scout Troop 28 removed household, automotive and other garbage from four different open space locations in Shelton. The four projects were done as an Earth Day project on April 19.

Approximately 1,000 pounds of metal, 100 glass bottles, 10 tires and 10 bags of other assorted garbage were collected.

Scouts participating in the event included Brandon Stuart, Gabriel Aponte, Michael Koller, Aimee Koller, Evan Kryger, Kyle Young, Liam Fama, Carl Leonzi III, Matthew Balcerzak, Kevin Demaine, Charlie O’Brien, Chase Wade, Charlie Chagnon, Ian Tyler and Zach McEwen.

Adult leaders taking part included Don Pendagast, Don Demaine, Dan Tyler, Rob Balcerzak, Ray Stuart, Carl Leonzi Jr., Mike Koller, Doug McEwen and Maurice Donini.

Boy Scout Troop 28 of Shelton is a member of the Housatonic Council and was organized in 1971. The Troop is sponsored by Mohegan School and meets every Thursday at the Nike Site.  The troop currently has 33 Boy Scouts.
