(UPDATE) Ansonia man dies following bicycle accident
A bicyclist seriously injured in an accident on Bridgeport Avenue last Wednesday, Dec. 23, died on Christmas Eve.
The bicyclist, 55 year-old Brian Climis of Ansonia, died from the injuries he suffered in an accident, police said Tuesday. The accident is actively under investigation and police say they have interviewed witnesses.
According to his obituary, Climis was the "beloved husband of 32 years to Karen (Corbin) Climis" a father of three children and had one grandchild.
Climis "was an avid cyclist and a familiar, welcome sight as he biked throughout the area," his family said.
He worked for many years as a bicycle mechanic and most recently as an office manager at Glynn Manufacturing in Stratford.
His family said he also enjoyed playing Saint Nicholas for area churches during the Christmas season.
Early last Wednesday morning at around 7:45am, Shelton Police and EMS responded to 504 Bridgeport Ave for a bicycle accident.
The bicyclist, 55 year old Brian Climis of Ansonia, is currently at the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. The traffic division is still investigating this incident.
At this point in the investigation there is no evidence to indicate a vehicle struck the bicycle. This is an ongoing investigation and traffic investigators are requesting anyone with any information to contact the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division at (203) 924-1544.
