University offers program on horse care

Post University has announced its next equine continuing education course Stable Management II, running Mondays, Sept. 8 to Oct. 27, 6 to 9 p.m. on the university’s Waterbury Campus.

Stable Management II is a continuing education course that is the companion course to the  Stable Management I. The course covers topics ranging from pasture care, fencing, ventilation, footing and drainage and fly control.

The Stable Management II course will also cover advice on environmental issues, manure disposal, as well as hay and grain choices. There will be a variety of practical components in the barn to demonstrate specific topics.

The Equine Husbandry Series are courses that can be taken in any order and are open to anyone interested — no pre-requisites are required.

Each course runs for eight weeks, one evening per week for three hours, and covers most aspects involved with properly caring for horses.  The cost for each course, when taken for personal enrichment and a Post University certificate, is $375.
