Veterans run for warriors
For the second year in a row, Shelton resident Lauren Cust, a wounded warrior from Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the Derby/Shelton AMVETS Post 43 team were the top fundraisers for the (5th) Annual Sunset Run For The Warriors held at the Huntington Green.
Cust was the top individual fundraiser. The AMVETS Post 43 was the top team fundraiser with $1,445 donated to the race. Post 43 has more than 30 female veteran members and more than 50 OperationEnduring Freedom (Afghanistan)/Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans out of a total of 150 members.
The mission of Hope For The Warriors is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
