Volunteers can assist at car wash honoring memory of Shelton High 2006 graduate
Volunteers are being sought to assist at a car wash in memory of Briana Gilligan Nostrant on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Echo Hose Ambulance headquarters, 100 Meadow St., Shelton.
A Shelton native and 2006 Shelton High School graduate, Gilligan Nostrant died April 30 after a three-year battle against acute lymphocytic leukemia. Donations from the car wash will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her name.
Anyone who wants to volunteer should contact organizer Katie Thompson at Kate.firstname.lastname@example.org. The event is an opportunity for students and groups to acquire community service hours.
Was creative and witty
Thompson, her best friend, described Gilligan Nostrant as creative and witty. “You always knew you were in for a laugh when you were with her,” Thompson said.
Gilligan Nostrant was survived by her parents, three siblings, and her husband David Nostrant. She and Dave Nostrant were married a few days before her passing in the presence of her immediate family and many viewers via Skype.
“Their wedding was the definition of true love and dedication,” friends said.
