Vote for your favorite architecture in People's Choice Awards
The Connecticut chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is sponsoring its annual People's Choice Awards. The program provides an opportunity for the public to vote on its favorite architectural projects in a range of categories.
A new category this year is Connecticut Treasures, in which voters may choose from eight iconic buildings — one from each of the Connecticut's eight counties (Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, Tolland, and Windham).
Fairfield County is represented by the Unitarian Church in Westport, while New Haven County is represented by the Ingalls Hockey Rink on the Yale campus.
Other categories in the AIA competition are favorite Residence, Commercial/Institutional Building. Educational/Religious Building, and Place for Recreation.
Online voting is available from Sept. 8 to 30 on the AIA Connecticut website, www.aiact.org.
AIA Connecticut is a nonprofit association of architects and allied design professionals located in New Haven. For information call 203-865-2195.
