Youth CONNection holds auditions on Sunday

Center Stage Theatre director Gary Scarpa will hold auditions for the theater’s Youth CONNection production of the Broadway show "The Drowsy Chaperone" from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, May 26. High School and college students  are eligible to audition.

All roles are open and newcomers as well as experienced actors.

"The Drowsy Chaperone" is a parody of American musical comedy of the 1920s. The story begins with a modern day musical theater enthusiast known as “the man in the chair,” who greets the audience and plays his favorite LP of the 1928 musical comedy, "The Drowsy Chaperone."

As the record begins to play, the musical magically bursts to life in his apartment, telling the story of a pampered Broadway starlet who wants to give up show business and get married, her producer who sets out to sabotage the wedding, her debonaire groom, her chaperone, her Latin lover and a pair of bumbling gangsters.

Candidates will be required to sing one minute of a song of their choice, preferably from a Broadway musical.

It is recommended candidates sing along with a recording of their song, as there will not be a piano accompanist.  There will also be a dance audition.

Those interested in auditioning are required to sign up for a time slot at

Center Stage is located at the former Lafayette School at 54 Grove Street. For more information visit or 203-225-6079.
