Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo will host its sixth annual golf tournament on Monday, Oct. 1, at the Connecticut Golf Club in Easton. Now a signature annual fundraising event for the zoo, players can enjoy a day on the links while supporting Connecticut's only zoo. "As we celebrate our 90th birthday, it is more important than ever that we invite the community to participate in our golf tournament which will provide much needed financial support for the coming year," said Gregg Dancho, director of zoo. The tournament is a four-person "best ball" tournament, with a shotgun start beginning at noon. Participants will vie for prizes in categories including a hole-in-one contest, as well as straightest drive and closest to the pin. Players also will enjoy goody bags, a silent auction, raffle, lunch, and dinner. Golfers and sponsors may register by e-mailing Emily Bobowick at email@example.com or by calling 203-394-6569. Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo, 1875 Noble Ave., in Bridgeport, is open daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Adult admission (ages 12 older) is $12., children (ages 3 -11) and senior admission (62 and older) is $10, and children under 3-years-old are free.
