Valley Shakespeare Festival will open its 2014 season with a kick-off celebration at Derby\u2019s Twisted Vine Restaurant on Friday, Feb. 21, from 5-9 p.m. \u201cCocktails with Shakespeare\u201d will take place on the restaurant\u2019s lower level and, in addition to revealing the title of the company\u2019s summer production, will feature prizes, live entertainment, cash bar and a variety of appetizers prepared by the Twisted Vine\u2019s chef for the admission fee of $10 per person. Twisted Vine Restaurant is located at 285 Main St., Derby, and is a sponsor of Valley Shakespeare Festival. Summer and December productions Valley Shakespeare Festival, a nonprofit theater company sponsored by Fractured Atlas and run by volunteers, produced three free performances of Shakespeare\u2019s \u201cThe Comedy of Errors\u201d last July in Shelton\u2019s Veterans Memorial Park and two performances of Charles Dickens\u2019 \u201cA Christmas Carol\u201d this past December at the Shelton History Center\u2019s Wilson Barn. Members of the company will be in attendance at the Feb. 21 fund-raiser to relate their experiences with Valley Shakespeare Festival, answer questions and encourage newcomers to join.
