The Naugatuck Valley Health District (NVHD) will offer influenza vaccine clinics to residents of Shelton, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour and Ansonia during the months of September, October and November. \u00a0Flu vaccination is recommended for everyone 6 months of age or older. Clinics will be held at the following locations: \u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oct. 1 9 a.m.-11 a.m. \u2013 Naugatuck Senior Center \u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oct. 6 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. \u2013 Beacon Falls Senior Center \u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oct. 7 10 a.m.-12 p.m. \u2013 Seymour Community\/Senior Center \u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oct. 8 10 a.m.-12 p.m. \u2013 Shelton Senior Center \u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oct. 13 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m. \u2013 Naugatuck Valley Health District \u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oct. 15 11 a.m.-1 p.m. \u2013 Crisco Senior Fair, Warsaw Park, Ansonia \u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oct. 28 10 a.m.-12 p.m. \u2013 Ansonia Doyle Senior Center No appointments are necessary. Flu vaccine will also be available by appointment on Wednesdays starting Nov. 4. Children needing flu shots will be accommodated by appointment at regularly scheduled immunization clinics at the district office in Seymour. Pre-registration is required for the district office clinics. The Health District will accept Aetna, Cigna, ConnectiCare, Anthem Blue Cross\/Blue Shield, Medicare Part B. They are not able to accept Medicare Advantage plans, Oxford or United HealthCare.\u00a0Those who are eligible should bring the proper insurance cards. The cost of the flu vaccine for with other forms of insurance is $30 for the quadrivalent vaccine, and $40 for the high dose vaccine for those 65 years and older. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, debit or credit card. All clinic attendees should wear loose fitting clothes with short sleeves. Elderly homebound persons who cannot attend any of the clinics may contact the Health District at 203-881-3255\u00a0to make arrangements for a nurse to administer the vaccine at home. Such individuals should have permission from their physicians for the influenza vaccine and have insurance through the above noted insurers. There are certain days scheduled for each town, so please call for an appointment. Clinic dates may be added or revised.
