The Gathering of the Vibes music, arts and camping festival will take place July 25-28 at Seaside Park, a 380-acre waterfront venue in Bridgeport. The 18th Vibes event will feature 40 bands, food and craft vendors, Kids Corner, the School of Rock Teen Vibes Stage, and a Sustainability Village that highlights local and national nonprofit organizations. The 2013 artist line-up includes two nights of Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh & Friends, featuring John Scofield and John Medeski. Children and teens can visit the Kids Corner and Teen Scene for face painting, hair wraps, arts and crafts, photo booth, dancing with life-sized puppets, and trips to the BioBus. Young guests also will be able to ride the 85-foot-high Ferris wheel, or jam on professional equipment with musicians from the Green Vibes and Main stages at the School of Rock Stage. Sunday will be Family Day at the Vibes Sunday, July 28 will be Family Day at the Gathering of the Vibes, with a world peace ceremony, puppet parade, and a chance to learn about production, sound and lighting from Vibes production pros. From 9 a.m. to sundown on Sunday, children ages 15 and younger will be admitted free when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
