Shelton couple celebrates 50th wedding anniversary
Ian and Marlene Paxton of Shelton are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this week.
Ian and Marlene (Riding) were married Sept. 19, 1964 at St. Andrew’s Church in Lochgelly, Fife, Scotland.
At age 19, the couple emigrated to America. They went on to have two children, Stephen and Heather. Steve was tragically killed in 1984. Heather got married in 1995 to Darryl Fitzgerald and has three children.
The Paxtons have lived in Shelton for about 40 years. He is retired from Sikorsky Aircraft and she is retired from the state Department of Developmental Services.
They celebrated their golden anniversary with their family during a one-week cruise to Bermuda.
Ian and Marlene frequently travel back to their native Scotland to visit with friends and family. They said they look forward to spending time with their grandchildren in good health throughout their retirement.
