Extra state police patrols net hundreds of arrests

State police have stepped up patrols for the Thanksgiving holiday. Additional troopers will be on the roads throughout the holiday weekend from now through Sunday.

Troopers will patrol all roads and highways across Connecticut and will focus on drunk driving violations and target aggressive drivers.

Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols will be in place over the entire weekend. State police will continue this preventive enforcement effort until the end of the holiday season.

Last night, there were 248 tickets for speeding and 133 tickets for seatbelts. There were 778 hazardous moving violations (which includes cell phone use, failure to signal and unsafe lane change). There were three arrested for driving under the influence, 142 accidents investigated, 22 with injury and one fatality.
