(Photos) Police continue to investigate Mt. Pleasant St. crash
(UPDATE) Shelton police are continuing their investigation on the second head on collision in the past week after an accident occurred on River Road in the area of Mt. Pleasant St. May 11.
On May 11 at 5:49 p.m the Shelton Police received several 911 calls regarding two cars that collided head on in the area of River Road and Mt.Pleasant St.
Shelton Police, Fire and EMS responded to the scene.
Both drivers of the vehicles were transported to Bridgeport Hospital with serious injuries. Both sides of River Rd. (Rte. 110) were shut down for a period of time while on scene investigation took place.
According to a prepared statement by Detective Chris Nugent of the Shelton Police department, officers cleared the scene and are now investigating the hit and run incident that occurred later in the evening on the corner of Howe Ave. and Hill St.
No enforcement action has been taken at this time.
The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team are continuing their investigation of the accident. Police are requesting that any witnesses or people with additional information to call the Shelton Police Traffic Division at (203) 924-1544.
Multiple sources have reported that a head on car crash on Mt. Pleasant St. has resulted in a fatality. Shelton Police nor EMS have confirmed these reports, but two vehicles appear to have been involved.
Local Firefighters have blocked off both sides of Grove St. while police observe the scene.
