Shelton police are investigating what is being called the “untimely death” of an infant at a downtown Shelton residence Monday morning.

On March 11 at about 7:30 a.m., the Shelton Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a mother who stated that her 2-month-old son was not breathing.

Shelton police and EMS immediately responded to the downtown Howe Avenue residence, according to a police press release.

The infant was taken to the hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead, according to the police.

Scene was secured

The scene was secured by police, and members of the Shelton Detective Bureau responded to the scene to investigate the child's death.

The incident is under investigation by detectives, with assistance by the State Medical Examiner's Office and the Department of Children and Families.
