Police seek info after bicyclist hit by car

Shelton police are seeking help from the public after a car allegedly struck a bicyclist Friday night.

At 10 p.m. on Aug. 14, police received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting an accident with injuries between a vehicle and a bicyclist at the intersection of Howe Avenue and Bridge Street.

Shelton Police and EMS responded to the scene. The bicyclist, a 49-year-old Milford resident, was transported to the hospital to be evaluated for injuries.

Witnesses reported that the bicyclist was allegedly struck by a black vehicle. The vehicle that was traveling south on Howe Avenue, police said. Witnesses reported that the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene over the Derby-Shelton Bridge.

The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigating this accident. Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call the police department traffic division at 203-924-1544.
