The Shelton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the following incidents between Dec. 24 and Jan. 7, as submitted by the fire marshal’s office:
Monday, Dec. 24
At 1:04 p.m., the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Community Residences Inc., 55 Soundridge Road, for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. A ladder truck responded.
At 7:29 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 2 Snowberry Lane for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.
Tuesday, Dec. 25
At 2:09 p.m., the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Long Hill Avenue near Rocky Rest Road for a motor vehicle accident. An engine responded.
At 2:56 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to 22 Bunker Hill Circle for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine and a ladder truck responded.
At 5:33 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1, Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to Shelton Intermediate School, 675 North Constitution Blvd., for an odor of natural gas outside the building. it was determined that the odor was from the exhaust from the building’s boiler. An engine, a rescue engine and a ladder truck responded.
Thursday, Dec. 27
At 7:47 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the area of Scooter’s Deli, 484 Bridgeport Ave., for a motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.
At 5:19 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to the area of 733 Bridgeport Ave. for a motor vehicle accident. An engine responded.
Friday, Dec. 28
At 6:54 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Ripton Housing Complex, 423 Howe Ave., for someone stuck in an elevator. A rescue pumper responded.
At 9:43 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to 159 Center St. for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.
At 9:55 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the area of 67 Howe Ave. to assist police at a motor vehicle vs pedestrian accident. A rescue pumper responded.
Saturday, Dec. 29
At 5:10 p.m., the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Cumberland Farms Food Store, 819 Long Hill Ave., for public service call lockout. An engine responded.
Sunday, Dec. 30
At 5:52 p.m., the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to 158 Thoreau Drive for a report of fire in an oven. Upon arrival firefighters found no fire. An engine responded.
Monday, Dec. 31
At 7:19 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Conti Realty Building, 415 Howe Ave., for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Steam from a vent pipe caused the alarm. An engine responded.
At 9:43 a.m., the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to 39 Lynne Terrace for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. An engine responded.
At 5:12 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Coram Avenue at Hill Street for a motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.
Tuesday, Jan. 1
At 5:01 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the market Place Plaza, 405 Bridgeport Ave., for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.
At 1:07 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 150 Center St. for a public service call. A rescue pumper responded.
At 2:27 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to 35 Rolling Brook Lane for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from a fireplace caused the alarm. An engine responded.
At 3:43 p.m., Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 41 Long Hill Ave. for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. A rescue pumper responded.
Wednesday, Jan. 2
At 11:13 a.m., the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of 158 Leavenworth Road for a power line down. An engine responded.
At 12:30 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to 38 Longmeadow Road to assist police with a carbon monoxide incident. A rescue pumper responded.
At 1:30 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Hyatt House Hotel, 830 Bridgeport Ave., for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Dust from maintenance on an air duct caused the alarm. A ladder truck responded.
At 2:42 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Benchmark Assisted Living Complex, 708 Bridgeport Ave., for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. A ladder truck responded.
At 3:17 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the Big Y Store parking lot for a public service call; lockout. A rescue pumper responded.
At 7:39 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 56 Mulberry Lane for a chimney fire. There was no damage as a result. Four engines, a ladder truck and a rescue pumper responded.
Thursday, Jan. 3
At 10:47 a.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to 87 North St. for a structure fire. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the from door of a single family two story wood frame structure. Firefighters entered and extinguished the fire on the second floor but not before the fire caused significant damage to the home. The lone occupant was safely out of the home when firefighters arrived. The fire started in the kitchen and was caused when oil being heated on the stove ignited when left accidentally unattended. The fire gutted the kitchen and the rest of the home sustained smoke and water damage. The home was deemed uninhabitable by the building official. Three engines and two ladder trucks responded from Shelton. An engine responded from Monroe to assist.
At 4:52 p.m., the White Hills Co. #5 responded to Maple Avenue for an illegal open burning. An engine responded.
Friday, Jan. 4
At 7:58 a.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to 7 Acadia Lane for an odor of natural gas in a building. An engine, a rescue engine and a ladder truck responded.
At 8:41 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 64 Cliff St. for an illegal open burning. An engine responded.
At 10:58 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 212 Prospect St. for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. An engine responded.
At 5:02 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Bridgeport Avenue and Constitution Boulevard South for motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.
At 10:10 p.m., the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Sports Center, 784 River Road, for a brush fire in the rear of the property. An engine responded.
Saturday, Jan. 5
At 10:56 a.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to 11 Inwood Court for a public service call. An engine responded.
At 3:44 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to River Road at Moulthrop Drive for a motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.
Sunday, Jan. 6
At 12:21 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Commerce Drive for an electrical hazard; transformer fire. An engine and a rescue engine responded.
At 4:23 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to 33 Country Walk Condominiums off Buddington Road for a chimney fire. The fire was out upon arrival of fire units. An engine, a ladder truck and a tower truck responded.
Monday, Jan. 7
At 12:44 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 30 Fairmont Place for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. An engine responded.
