Shelton driver dies from Constitution Blvd. accident
A driver involved in the Sept. 4 accident on Constitution Boulevard at Ivy Brook Road and Waterview Drive in Shelton has died.
Kathleen Lilley, 69, of Shelton succumbed to her injuries from the incident, according to the Shelton Police Department. Lilley was driving a Volkswagen sedan and had to be extricated from her vehicle.
The two-vehicle accident is still under investigation by the Shelton Police Department’s Traffic Division Reconstruction Team and no enforcement action has been taken at this time.
Accident occurred in the morning
On Sept. 4 at about 9:10 a.m., Shelton police, fire and EMS were dispatched to South Constitution Boulevard at the intersection of Ivy Brook Road and Waterview Drive for a two-car accident.

A VW and Ford collided
The initial investigation by police revealed that a Volkswagen station wagon traveling east on Ivy Brook Road collided with a Ford sedan that was traveling south on South Constitution Boulevard.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Kathleen Lilley, 69, of Shelton was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious condition, according to the Shelton Police Department. A passenger in the Volkswagen also was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Ford, Christopher Struber, 25, of Ansonia and his passenger were not taken to the hospital.
July accident in same location
A similar accident, involving two cars that collided, occurred at the same intersection on July 17. An occupant had to be extricated from one of the vehicles in the earlier incident as well.
Drivers on both Ivy Brook Road and Waterview Drive have stop signs at the four-way intersection but there is no stop sign for motorists traveling on Constitution Boulevard South.
