A Shelton man was arrested Thursday after he claimed he wanted to make a road safer to cross.
Kevin Brian Reilly, 48, of Howe Avenue, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, second-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree criminal mischief on March 7. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
According to reports, officers were dispatched to Howe Avenue and Kneen Street, because of yelling allegedly happening in the street. Officers found a man allegedly spray-painting the road, who then ran off.
Later, officers found Reilly, who was identified because of an alleged paint stain on his finger.
Police said Reilly claimed to be painting a sidewalk because he was almost hit by a vehicle that evening.
