Two cars collide on Bridgeport Avenue; Police at the scene

WEDNESDAY, 2:20 P.M.:  Police are at the scene of an accident on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton, across the street from the entrance to the shopping area with Chili’s and Longhorn Steakhouse. (Photos by Brad Durrell)

Two vehicles collided with each other heading south (toward Trumbull). The accident occurred at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Officers are directly traffic around the scene, with some backups for motorists heading south on Bridgeport Avenue.

One person is being put on a stretcher due to injuries, and is likely to be taken to the hospital. The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

One ambulance is at the scene as well as three police officers and three police vehicles.

A Mercedes Benz sedan appears to have hit a Lexus sedan in the rear. Both vehicles are silver colored. Some broken car parts can be seen on the road.

One driver placed on stretcher

The driver of the Mercedes is the injured individual, who is being placed on a stretcher. The Mercedes has Florida plates. It's unclear if there was anyone else inside the Mercedes at the time of the accident.

It appears there were two occupants in the Lexus, and at least one of them suffered minor injuries and is likely to be treated at the scene. The Lexus has Connecticut plates.

The accident took place on Bridgeport Avenue between Trap Falls Road/Armstrong Road and Parrott Drive. The shopping area with Chili’s restaurant and Longhorn Steakhouse also has a TD Bank branch and Hyatt House hotel.
