Edward Hunt serves as intern at Stratford company
Alongside Lisa Gentile, his supervisor and the operations manager, Hunt assisted and completed a variety of projects. Hunt was given an area, which consisted of Fairfield, Stratford, Weston, Redding, Easton and Westport. In this area, he was responsible for about 80 different restaurants, gas stations and convenient stores and his objective was to increase sales for Pepsi at every location.
Hunt accomplished this by using marketing tools to advertise Pepsi within these businesses. He recommended changes to the Pepsi products they sold in order to meet the needs of the demographic. He also used incentives for customers to encourage more sales.
Hunt completed many projects, such as a Fourth of July Display at Walgreens, which led to an increase of sales. Another project of his was to scout potential partners for Pepsi. Hunt also acted as a brand ambassador to promote Pepsi’s new products. This entailed going to venues and giving clients free samples and receiving feedback on the products.
“PepsiCo is a global beverage and food service company,” he said. “Being an intern for Pepsi was awesome. They truly treated me as a part of the team and gave me opportunities to learn, while completing my goals. At the end of the internship, we had the honor of presenting our internship and what we learned to the company. This was a great chance to network and learn how we can improve ourselves professionally. From inside the factory, to outside in the field, I got to see many of the parts that make Pepsi work. I also got to be a part of a service project for Pepsi by delivering Gatorade to a Philanthropic Whiffle Ball Tournament in Greenwich. The thing I enjoyed most was getting to improve myself professionally and learn my personal style of sales, marketing and business in general.”
Hunt said he learned about his strengths and the opportunities for growth in dealing with customers and other interns, as well as learning skills from his supervisor.
He said that the internship will help him in class because he has always liked business, but he now has confidence that he is in the right major. Hunt will have a greater passion toward his studies in knowing that education is important in the business world.
