SHS robotics team competes at state level
The Shelton High School robotics team, the Gaelhawks, competed in the state championship May 16 at Berlin High School.
The team and their robot, named Talon XVI, has competed in the 2015 First Robotics Competition’s (FRC) Recycle Rush challenge throughout the winter season.
This year’s team also qualified for the FRC world championship in St. Louis and the New England district championship in Worcester, Mass., with New England district wins at competitions in Waterbury, Hartford and Dartmouth, Mass.
The team also won the Chairman’s Award at the Hartford competition.
The SHS robotics team is in its 17th year of operation and promotes the mission of “advancing the excitement of science and technology in our school and community.”
The team is supported by the Shelton Board of Education, UTC Sikorsky, OEM Controls, Boeing, ATT Connecticut, Intuitive Surgical, Landmark Transportation, IEEE, Cooper Surgical, and Ametek/Hayden Kirk.
