Shelton parents can register children for kindergarten
The Shelton public school system will hold kindergarten registration at its five K-4 elementary schools on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 6 and 7, and on Monday and Tuesday, March 3 and 4.
Parents must contact their home-school to sign up for the registration/screening session. Students will be screened by the kindergarten teachers while parents complete the registration process.
Refer to the school system website at sheltonpublicschools.org for more information.
Children who will be 5 years of age on or before Jan. 1, 2015 may register at their respective assigned schools. Contact the appropriate school for an appointment.
Parental ID to prove residency
Parents planning to register a child to attend in the Shelton public schools will be required to supply a current Connecticut driver’s license along with two forms of verification of local residency.
Acceptable documents include mortgage receipt, rental receipt or copy of a lease, and utility bills (gas, electric, telephone, cable-TV). These documents must be brought to school at the time of registration.
No parent will be allowed to register their child/children for school unless proof of residency is presented.
Other documents also are needed
In addition, parents are asked to supply the school with a child’s official birth certificate (original with raised seal), immunizations record, and passport (if needed).
Immunizations record must include evidence that the child has been adequately immunized against measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), diptheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT), polio (OPV-IPV), TB test, Hib, HepB and varicella (chicken-pox).
Physical examination forms will be distributed at the time of registration and must be returned to the school before the first day of school.
