Shelton principal plans to resign
A principal at one of Shelton’s elementary schools has submitted her resignation.
Booth Hill School Principal Kathleen Sheehy plans to resign, School Supt. Freeman Burr said at the May 27 Board of Education (BOE) meeting.
Sheehy was unable to attend the meeting where the announcement was made because she has been tending to a family matter, Burr said.
The BOE has posted the job opening on its website, with a desired start date of July 1. The Booth Hill School principal’s job opening was officially posted on May 26.
Became principal in 2007
According to a 2007 New Haven Register article, Sheehy was appointed Booth Hill principal in 2007 and previously had taught in various school districts, including in Illinois and Connecticut.
Sheehy will be the third Shelton elementary school principal to leave the district in recent years. New principals have been appointed at Long Hill and Sunnyside schools during that time period.
At the May 27 BOE meeting, School Supt. Freeman Burr announced he will step down from his position on Dec. 31, 2015.
