Three St. Joseph School students were recognized for winning the Shelton parochial school’s Sunflower Challenge.

Chloe Garrow, fourth grade, won first place with a sunflower that measured 14 inches in diameter.

Jason Brezosky, sixth grade, came in second place with an 11-inch-diameter sunflower submission.

Emma Eschweiler, second grade, took third place with a sunflower that was 10 inches in diameter.

“We hope you had fun growing this summer,” school officials told students who participated.

The school on Coram Avenue, part of the Roman Catholic parish, serves students in pre-K to grade eight.
